What Odds?

In America, there is one divorce approximately every 36 seconds. That's nearly 2,400 divorces per day, 16,800 divorces per week and 876,000 divorces a year.
The average length of a marriage that ends in divorce is eight years
41 percent of first marriages end in divorce.
60 percent of second marriages end in divorce.
73 percent of third marriages end in divorce
38.8 percent of men and 36.6 percent of women ages 20-24 years get divorced.

The odds say our marriage wont last.

Young lovers. First marriage. Far too young. Never lived alone (let alone together!) before the wedding night. Both first-born's. I'm sure there are a dozen other factors that all point fingers and lay wagers that somehow, someway, we'll end up like the rest of the world - divorced, discouraged, and disillusioned at the idea of true love, lasting happiness and marital fidelity. They say we've all got to try it once - then we'll be the wiser for wear. Young and dumb. Reality will set in soon enough. Just the way it is in the world.

We're here to break those odds.

This is our story of our life together in this big, crazy, scared-stiff-of-long-term-commitment world, doing everything we can to hold tight to God and to eachother.

We are young, yes. Crazy - yes to that too. Certainly can't deny that one. Young and in love, but the principles and truth we've been taught are true no matter how old you are or how long you've been married.

We hope this blog inspires the young lover deep inside of you (come on - its there. Don't even try to deny it...) to rejuvenate and reinvigorate your marriage, to work through conflict, to get through those tough times in life (like we would know......) and to most of all, enjoy the willies out of one of the greatest gifts God ever gave mankind.

So, go ahead and call us Rebels. Call us crazy. Call us in over our heads. Call us whatever you like. (Just not late for dinner!)

But, in true rip-snortin', guns blazing, Han Solo style, never tell us the odds.
